DLPA3000 Thermal Pad

as DLPA3000 spec & SLMA002 define:

1. Thermal pad:12.00×12.00;

2. Exposed thermal pad:6.00×6.00;

3. VIA 7×7;

Detail footprint as attachment;

But to my opinion, exposed thermal pad 12.00×12.00 has good thermal dissipation than 6.0×6.0;

The reason for TI suggestion to Choosing exposed thermal pad 6.0×6.0 is ….??

The 12mm x 12 mm is not the thermal pad dimensions.  It is the distance between the first and last pin on the side of the die.  The first drawing is a generic drawing for all HTQFP devices, and it has a note that says to refer to the datasheet for the pad dimensions.  The pad dimensions are specified in the second drawing, which is the specific drawing for our package.

SLMA002 says vias is good to thermal.

Adding  vias for DLPA3000 footprint is better??

PICO Projector based on DLPA3438 & DLPA3000,

if DLPA3000 analog sensor signal pins are not used, left them floating or ………….??

I can't find it in data sheet;

If you didn't connect light sensor or temperature sensor with DLPA3000, the sensor related pins can be left open or unconnected. Please find more details on DLPA3000 datasheet (Page37).

according to DLPA3005 design sch–2514006_20141230,as image shows, adds two diodes for PWR1,2,5,6,7;

Need to add diodes for DLPA3000??

No need diodes for DLPA3000 PWR1/2/5/6/7 converters. But PWR5/6/7 should not be used currently. Please refer to DLPA3000 datasheet for details.

Yes. The PWR5/6/7 pins of DLPA3000 can be left open/unconnected.

DLPA3000 data sheet Page 9  shows:

Typical Application: 6 A LED, Internal FETs,

DMD type TRP.

ACTIVE mode, all VIN pins combined, DMD, ILLUMINATION and PWR1,2 enabled, PWR3,4,5,6,7 disabled.

 

==>if this means, only PWR1,2 can be used while using DMD Type TRP??
